Devlog #8: Tutorial level and more complex attacks
Hello, welcome to week 9 of development of Salt, Grooves, and Garlic! This week we added new features and made changes in preparation for the beta.
One big new feature is the tutorial level, which should help ease players into the game’s mechanics. A big issue we faced before was player on-boarding, so we feel this should help a lot!
We also spent time reworking a lot of the attack patterns and visuals.
In this gif, you can see some of the new effects. Fireballs now look more fireball-like, and sparks give off a bright glow. The projectiles are now also telegraphed a bit more clearly - when they spawn, they line up in the order that they will fly towards the player.

We’ve made some improvements to the parry indicator, so that it displays the appropriate timing for every incoming projectile, instead of just the first.

This gif shows off the some of the new attack patterns and the new tile attack animation, which comes in the form of spikes that poke out of the ground.

Although not quite ready yet, we are exploring other possible animations for the tile attacks.

In addition, we have a lot of new and improved UI!

Some other changes:
- UI improvements
- New sound effects
- Improvements to music track
- Model for bat
Extra: a funny bug
