Devlog #1

Hello! We are the team working on Salt, Grooves, and Garlic, and this is our first devlog. It’s only been a short amount of time but we feel like we have already made solid progress on development!

In our first game jam, we were able to get a very rough prototype of what we thought the base of the game could look like. This included our first attempt at the beat/rhythm tracking system, cartoony art style, potential music genre, and basic layout for what the levels would look like. After receiving some feedback, we decided that we could try to explore some other ideas. For example, what if the boss wasn’t there with you on the grid, but instead loomed over you in a cinematic fashion?

Throughout the week, we worked on further refining and our ideas, as well as improving the beat tracking and input systems, adding animations, working on music, and exploring art styles.

For the upcoming weeks, we hope to be able to settle on a concrete art style, and to have the base systems for the game finished so that we can begin working on the first boss!
