Devlog #4: New track, and editing levels with MIDI
Salt, Grooves, and Garlic » Devlog
Hello, welcome to week 4 of Salt, Grooves, and Garlic development.
This week, we completed the first version of our Vampire boss fight level, along with a new 2 minute track. For this level, we put more focus on having a good difficulty progression.
We control the boss attack patterns and phases using our new system which lets us import and read from MIDI files, making creating and editing these fights much easier!
We also had an informal playtest and discussion on Friday, in which we talked about potential areas for improvement. For example, improving audio and visual feedback and better clarity for attacks.
The new level can be seen in the attached video.
Some other things that we worked on this week:
- Latency calibration setting
- Improvements to Groove meter
- New visual feedback in the form of text popups that tell you how on rhythm your inputs were.
- Some modifications to boss AI
